A charming vintage wooden brooch from Estonia, decorated with an intricate geometric design in a traditional Baltic folk-art style.
The round brooch is made from light-coloured wood and has a slightly raised, shaped profile rather than a simple flat disc. The front is richly decorated with dark pyrography-style ornament, including repeating star and sun-like motifs, radiating geometric forms, and a decorative border.
The variation visible in the lines and shaded areas gives the decoration a distinctly handcrafted character.
The reverse is left undecorated, showing the natural wood grain and construction. A simple metal safety-pin style fastening is fitted to the back.
This piece was found in Estonia and is believed to be a vintage Estonian handicraft item, possibly dating from the Soviet period. The exact maker and production date are unknown, and no maker's mark or signature is visible.
